Hush Salon and Spa is a well-known beauty salon located in downtown Guelph, striving to make their clients look stunning and feel fabulous.
With more than 19 years of experience, their team of professionals specializes in long, curly, unmanageable hair making Hush the go-to spot for taming curls.
After previously building out Hush Salon and Spa's Online Store on Shopify, they approached us to migrate their entire WordPress website to Shopify. During this project, our team worked with Hush Salon's management to bring their vision to life. After finalizing their new brand guidelines, we built Hush a dynamic website that could showcase their expertise while offering an enhanced online shopping experience and a more convenient booking process. To optimize the results, our team conducted a photoshoot to capture the beauty of the space in photo and video, along with professional portrait shots of all the team members and stylists.
We started the project with a full rebrand that represented elevated the Hush Salon and Spa visual identity. To build a colour palette that matches the industry standards and is also unique to Hush, we chose light, neutral colours with muted tones for soft yet elegant aesthetics. With a modern and neat look, the Hush brand guidelines present a variety of colour combinations to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG) to ensure accessible content.
While the Shopify Online Store 2.0 capable 'Impulse' theme was used for the website, custom additions were made for a more robust yet dynamic layout. These customizations allowed for an optimized user experience without sacrificing visual identity.
To build individual entries for each team member with minimal data entry, custom liquid, javascript, PHP, and CSS coding were used. Visitors and clients can easily browse and explore each stylist's profile to view a brief introduction followed by a gallery showcasing their work. This offers customers and clients a more intuitive experience allowing them to book an appointment with a stylist of their choosing with peace of mind. All of this is managed through Online Store 2.0 sections in the Shopify customizer, allowing Hush staff to make rapid in-house changes without the need for ongoing web development.
With a customized template, showcasing products and product stories is an effortless process. Elaborate product pages are compelling and engaging, making it easier for customers to follow the information flow. Dispite the level of detail in the templates, repetitive data entry has been minimized. Product information and specifications are displayed on every "DevaCurl" product template, offering customers all the necessary details without repetitive manual entries.
In order to offer hassle-free bookings online, The Mindbody booking app was integrated along with custom CSS styling. This integration allows clients to book appointments for services at dates and times of their choosing. Clients can book with their stylist online 24/7 and on the go, and Hush Salon and Spa is able to manage their booking calendar right from the Mindbody web app.
New staff photos and new location photos create a unified, elevated appearance. In addition, a professionally produced short promo video showcases the space and helps potential customers envision the luxurious experience that awaits them at Hush Salon and Spa.
